Diorama Drama
Diorama responses:
1)This diorama evoked a strong emotion in me:
my partner jamal's diorama contained pictures of him and his girlfriend. this made me happy because i always like to see happy couples.
2) This diorama taught me something I don't know:
The drinking and driving diorama taught me that the rate of drunk driving accidents have decreased by 47 % in the past 15 years. I would have never thought it had decreased that much, for there are still a lot of drunk driving accidents.
3) This diorama was creative:
Erica's diorama was about littering and i thought it was really creative because she used actual trash to simulate the trash in her diorama.
4) I have something to say about this diorama:
The diorama about football was good because football is really at the core of american culture. Its a way for American's to really define ourselves as being American.
5)The message in this diorama could be considered propaganda:
There were numerous diorama's that were on racism. this is considered propaganda for racial equality.

High Museum Paper
"Angel of the Lord" by Howard Finster. This was my favorite piece of art because I like the way that the artist expressed the problem with human feelings towards religion including the way christians put off doing what they're suppose to. I feel that he did a good job portraying his meaning and it really showed well.
I really like "The Great Pyramid" by Alfred Jensen, but unfortunately i won't be able to take it home. The picture although very grand is just two sizes too big to fit on any wall other than that of the High museum.
While walking through the museum we came across a Piano(created in 1876) that taught me some things I didn't already know. I learned that most of the piano's that came from that time period were designed to impress the critics in Philadelphia rather than to be instruments for music. They were also and expression of wealth and symbols of sophisticated artistic taste rather than tonal quality.
I've seen many paintings during my life and none of them made me feel more upset than "The Neighboors(1881)" by John George Brown. The painting depicts a sick elderly woman being visited by her neighboor and apparent close friend. This made me sad because a viewer can see the despair that she's feeling from her illness. I also feel comfort because, one can see the friendship that she feels.
"Crucifixion(2003)" by Tim Lewis, portrays a moment in history. It portrays the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This is a very significant moment in history for me because I am a Christian.
As soon as I looked at "SMKFW(1986)" by Julian Schnabel, I was instantly picturing my friend Nathan. When I first look at the picture I see a little pirate captain and seeing as my friend is always talking about being a pirate he was the first thing that came to my mind.
I was most shocked by Vik-Muniz's "After Rembrandt/Pictures of Junk(2005)". This work of art of a photocraph of a lot of trash making an image. Beauty derived our of nonsense basically.
There were many differences between the Contemporary art and the Folk art. While we were walking through the museum and looking at the different levels we got to see the biggest difference between the two different kinds of art. Contemporary art consists mostly of art post date WW2 up till the present. Folk art is generally prior to WW2. Also, contemporary is more bold with vibrant colors and shapes and considered more of an expression of self. Folk art generally has more meaning behind the work, more of an explaination of a story being told.
My favorite part of my trip to the museum was being able to look at all of the different types of furniture through out the decades. My favorite time period of furniture is from the 50's and the 60's.
The extra credit was to go outside and identify the statue and why it was there. Its "The Shade(1880)" by Auguste Rodin, and it was there in memory of the art board members who lost their lives in a plane crash on June 3, 1962.
